The Department of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Food launches a call for these awards annually.
The PITA award aims to distinguish agricultural enterprises and food industries that have incorporated innovations such as a new product, process or management, focused on improving their competitiveness and sustainability.
With the PITA award, the Department of Agriculture seeks to highlight inspiring models for the agricultural sector to promote technological innovation and, encourage these actions among agribusiness companies. In this way, Catalonia will build a strengthened agri-food sector, capable to compete in the markets and contribute to the generation of employment, welfare and territorial balance.
The Ruralapps award aims to promote the development of mobile applications and to distinguish the companies that have developed the best functional apps contributing to improve the agriculture, agri-food or rural sectors. Furthermore, this award wants to support those innovators who have developed apps that provide technological solutions to citizenship or professionals in the agricultural, agri-food and rural sectors.
